Floor Prep and Install

For over two decades, our innovative process has been refined to ensure that your garage floor will have a style and sophistication that lasts for years. In just 2 to 3 days your garage floor can be protected against weathering, cracking, oil, chemicals and moisture.

Day One – Prep

Preparation of the concrete substrate is often the most critical step when installing floor coating.  We use a diamond grinder and hand grinders on all concrete surfaces to effectively remove the top cream layer of concrete and to expose a porous and contaminant-free surface. We take necessary precautions to keep the dust to a minimum.  Each of our technicians is experienced in evaluating and preparing the concrete floor to meet our rigorous standards. We can also remove pre-existing coatings in this step such as epoxy, paint and other sealers.

Day One – Crack Repair

The install process is continued by performing any crack, hole and divot repair. We use a special blend of products that provide a superior bond to concrete and can be used on all surface imperfections.  We also fix front edges that have fallen away, all with the intent to permanently hide these defections. It is also at this time that we silicone caulk the perimeter to ensure a seamless bond to the existing baseboard, and/or prepare the baseboard and steps, if applicable, for coating.

Day One – Polymer (Epoxy) and Chip Broadcast

After the surface is fully prepped, repaired and cleaned, we then apply two layers of polymer (epoxy) with large 18″ rollers.  This is immediately followed with the full broadcast of decorative color chips to the point of rejection. The garage doors are lowered manually for the floor to cure overnight.

Day Two – Reclaim Excess Chips

The next step in our process includes the reclaiming of excess chips on the surface with a blower.  Once the excess chips are collected and removed, the floor is scraped and/or buffed to achieve the desired amount of texture.

Day Two – Poly Hybrid Clear Coat

As a final step in the process, we apply two coats of our industrial grade poly hybrid clear coat.  This product dries very rapidly and must be rolled with precision.  Two coats is necessary to ensure a uniform high gloss look that will stand up to the heavy weight of vehicle traffic, hot tires, etc.  In the final clear coat we add an anti-skid aggregate to protect against slickness.
