Ask This Question Before Trusting a Garage Floor Coating Warranty

Atlanta homeowners often see long warranties advertised when shopping for a garage floor coating. Ten years. Twenty years. Lifetime.

Before trusting any of those promises, there is one question that matters more than the warranty itself.

How long has the company offering it actually been in business?

Why Company Longevity Matters More Than Warranty Language

Most 1-day garage floor coating companies do not stay in business long enough to honor the warranties they promote.

Across the industry, the pattern is consistent:

  • 1–3 years: the most common business lifespan
  • 3–5 years: usually only if the installer improves their process
  • 5+ years: uncommon without technical expertise and long-term quality control

When a company disappears, the warranty disappears with it. That is why longevity matters more than bold warranty language.

Why Garage Floor Coating Problems Appear Years Later

Fast-install (“1-day”) systems are built around speed and volume. What often gets skipped is properly addressing moisture moving through the concrete slab, which is one of the leading causes of coating failure. In the pursuit of speed, “1-day” coating systems apply a thin layer of a quick-curing polyurea or polyaspartic as the direct-to-concrete (primer) coat. Bad idea.

The problem? These products cure so quickly (especially in the presence of moisture), that they don’t deeply penetrate the concrete…and they can only go down thinly (they are not “high-build coatings). The thin, poorly penetrating polyurea-polyaspartic primer coat is no match for future hydrostatic pressures that push up from the concrete slab. In Georgia’s humid climate, these moisture-related problems develop slowly. By the time peeling or delamination becomes visible, the installer that issued the warranty is often no longer in business.

That delayed failure is why homeowners should ask about company history before believing any warranty.

How a 2-Day Garage Floor Coating Is Built for Long-Term Performance

At Garage Floor Coating of Atlanta, we install hybrid polyaspartic and epoxy garage floor systems designed for durability and long-term adhesion.

After concrete preparation, our process starts with a slower-curing, moisture-mitigating epoxy primer; it acts as a thick moisture vapor barrier (MVB). The thick primer application is followed by a full flake broadcast of the customer-selected flake blend. Finally, we top it all off with two separate, 100%-solids clear polyaspartic topcoats (we use our quick-cure polyaspartics as clear top coats only….never as direct-to-concrete primer coats. And we apply 2 coats, not just one).

The system is designed to manage moisture, ensure long-term adhesion, and protection from staining, impacts and UV damage.

A Garage Floor Coating Warranty You Can Actually Rely On

GarageFloorCoating.com has been in business for more than 30 years and operating nationally since 2006. That longevity is why Garage Floor Coating of Atlanta offers a lifetime warranty against delamination supported by real experience and infrastructure.

If you are comparing floor coatings, start by asking how long the installer has been in business.

Then schedule a consultation with Garage Floor Coating of Atlanta to see what a properly built 2-day system looks like when the warranty is backed by a company that will still be there.
